Day 29: Good Company

She loved the night.

She loved the vulnerability that was found under the moonlight;

The silver tears and muffled cries on squeezed pillows.

She loved the night.

She loved how the face was bare of every makeup and pretense,

How the body was unclothed from luxury and status,

She loved the night.

Because that’s how she could see the raw and uncut version of you.

You were truly good company.

So she said, “One night, let’s just refill our coffee mugs and talk till the sun comes out.”

Day 17: Clearing a space

Jack wasn’t about to let her into the turmoil that was his life. His mind was a mess, and he wouldn’t let her in. His heart knew what it wanted, it skipped a beat at the mention of her name. “How did this happen? Where did she come from?” Were some of the questions his brain tried to answer. Slowly, and gently she tore through his defenses.

Three months down the line, nothing else worked. Not ghosting, not avoiding her, not pretending the feelings weren’t there. Jack wanted her. And it was time to clear a space in his heart for her to build a home.

Day 4: Can’t be taught

Birds flying high,

Who taught you to fly?

One moment you were born,

The next, you knew the sky was your playground,

With every flutter of your wing,

You knew you were made for more than this,

More than just being nestled,

More than just sitting on a branch.

Oh bird!

Who taught you to soar?

To take great risks,

While throwing caution in the wind,

To sit on high tension cords,

With the world at your feet.

Perhaps flying can’t be taught,

Being your real self can’t be taught,

Being who you’re meant to be in the world can’t be taught,

You just do it!

You just fly!

Daughter of the King

Here’s your mistake,

You spend your life pursuing people who don’t even see your worth;

You give them the excuse to treat you miserably,

Because at least, they’re giving you their attention in that moment.

Your mistake, darling,

Is when you too start seeing yourself through their eyes;

Nuisance. Worthless. Piece of shit.

And you believe the lies
