DTM: Of Late Night Cocoa

cocoa

The beauty about the rainy season is the chilly breeze that lingers long afterwards, especially at night. It rained much earlier in the morning but the weather is still chilled and I’m wrapped up in a duvet. What suits the night better than a late night cup of cocoa?   Read the rest of this entry »

Night Files- Mirror Mirror

Mirror mirror on the wall
Who is the fairest of them all
None shall before me stand tall
All proud and self loving will fall
Mirror mirror on the wall
Surely I am the fairest of them all
Strong, handsome and tall
With me none can brawl
Oh foolish mortal how vain
You are of all most mundane
Ashamed you should certainly be
Of what behind the curtain you see
Peel back I say the veneer
At you even the dead sneer
Mirror mirror on the wall
Who then is the fairest of them all
Verily I say none at all
For same Icarus suffered a great fall
Musings of a not so perfect poet

Night Files 3

night files

It was the day before yesterday. I remember clearly because I wore the shirt I disliked. I remember strutting down the hall with my hands in my pocket, feigning confidence which was already lost in that shirt. I saw him; albeit for a split second. But there’s no mistaking it was him. His brief statue darted down the stairs and I was caught in my tracks. I exhaled the air I wasn’t aware I was holding. Something about him sent creep waves my way. night

‘One day at a time’, Laila said to herself as she turned off the alarm she had snoozed three times already. She felt the weight of the world on her shoulders as she sat up on the disheveled bed. She couldn’t remember sleeping. There had been a lot of crying and drinking to drown her fears and she fell asleep somewhere in the middle. The pain still gnawed at her heart while she silently whispered ‘Help me God’  Read the rest of this entry »

Dark Clouds

The clouds turn dark when it’s about to rain

The soil closes up the seed when it’s about to grow

The night gets darker when the day is about to break

A pregnant woman travails when she’s about to bring forth

Pain before pleasure

Labor before reward

Darkness before light

So why do you despair

Oh my soul?

This darkness you see

Is for a while

This pain you feel

Won’t last forever

Behold!

Pregnant clouds give birth to rain

Pregnant women give birth to babies

Though you travail

You will surely bring forth

Though the storm rages

You will find still waters

Oh my soul

Don’t give up!

Get up!

Get going!

For the light is about to break forth

This darkness is but for a while
