DIY- Out of the Box

Hey guys!

How’s the weekend going? I hope it’s been as smooth as milk 😊 That was very cheesy, I know! LOL.

Well, I’ve been thinking about the DIY project to do but most of the ones online kinda need me to get some extra products. Anyway, before I go shopping for those, I decided to do a bit of mine.

I’ve got a couple of perfume boxes lying around (because I’m weirdly into storing up such cute boxes) 😃

So instead of leaving these boxes to occupy some junk space, I decided to get them to use.

Nail Polish Box

This first box was a gift set so its wide enough…to hold my nail polish bottles! 😅

So I pulled out the little transparent sheet over the box and let the top out (so I can easily pick and return nail polish at will.

Cream and Cologne Box

This is a Britney spears perfume box. I love the perfume but I think I like the box a little more! 🙈 Well, it’s got colors!

I’m using this box for hand creams, colognes, body sprays and the like. You know, all those bottles that take up space on your dressing table. 😃

 Minions Box

I got this lovely minions mug from a friend of mine. She knows how much I love minions! 😊  Well, a normal person would use the mug for coffee and throw away the box. But not me! Haha!

So first, I used the box to store up my lipsticks, make up brushes and pencils. Basically, it’s a make up box! Especially for those items that are bound to spill or get smeared.

I’m using the cup to keep my stash of highlighters and pens. I sure love having colorful highlighters (colors make me happy!) 😃

So well! There you have it! I’ve managed to reduce the items lying on my dressing table. Plus, I’ve found a way to preserve my favourite boxes without leaving them as junk!

***Have you got some items you just can’t seem to throw out even if they’ve got no use?

Why not think outside the box and come up with a fun DIY? I’d love to help! ❤😊

Have a fabulous weekend!

PS: Remember to check out Sunday’s post! 😘

The Therapist

I watched as her demeanour changed when she picked up the phone to see the caller. She didn’t answer. Neither did she put the phone on silence. She just looked away. Her features looked distressed. Who could the caller have been? I wondered. My friend who had just been laughing some minutes back now looked as though she partook of the ice bucket challenge. Her face was completely flustered.

I’m not one to dig into personal concerns except people willingly share them with me. Well, that’s why I get paid for my listening and confidentiality as a therapist. But I still couldn’t help but ask her.

“Who was the caller?” She looked a little shocked as though she wasn’t expecting me to notice.

“It’s him.” She swallowed hard. Fighting the tears that soon began to stain her artificially blushed cheeks.

What is it about men that made women cry? Why do they wield such power to open the floodgates of tears for even the strongest of all women? That I would never know.

As I tried to console her, she freely opened up as to how they had been having issues in the relationship. He’d beat her and later buy her some expensive gift as an appeasement. My one night of having fun away from work got ruined as it turned out to be another therapy session.

By the time we were done, she was happy and empowered. While I looked drained and ordered another drink.

“He’s here to pick me up.” She said after taking his call. I could see the asking-for-permission look on her face.

“Oh please don’t worry about me. Go have fun!” I encouraged. She scampered away with a lot of thank yous.

I was back to being alone. The way I had always been. Lately being alone scared me. Lately- that’s because prior to this period, I had always savoured my aloneness. I’d say being a custodian of other people’s secrets isn’t so good after all. It keeps me up at night, tossing and turning.

Now I was taking some drinks because I was down. I just had to cover up my own heartbreak and be there for my friend. But now that I needed someone to be there for me, there was no one in sight.

It’s funny how some people are always seen as rocks. So solid they don’t have weak moments. So people never really bother to find out how they are. I’m one of such rocks. And men, I must say this rock is breaking.

I’ve been having a lot of strange dreams lately; dreams that I can’t seem to figure; dreams that keep me away from sleep.

I can’t bear to go back home now, even though my friend bailed on me.  It’s grave back there.

Now that I think of it, was I right to tell her she could still go back to her man who beats her? Or was I too carried away by my problems to actually think things through. That’s why therapy sessions should be saved for my couch, not a bar stool. Sighs.

Hey guys, sorry there’s no Rachel’s musings this week, please bear with me. Plus, you might be seeing a lot of unrelated fiction stories like this, just enjoy it and stop tryna piece them together 😉  Remember the purpose of the Friday fiction is for entertainment and to help my fiction writing skills. Please feel free to share improvement tips or topics you’d like me to write about. Thanks and God bless! ❤

The ability to create pictures in your mind- Oxford Learners dictionary

It’s absolutely amazing how the mind can conjure up images; images of things seen and unseen. I’m always awestruck when I watch a really good movie, albeit fictional. I believe it takes a very imaginative mind to come up with such characters, scenes and stunts.

I spent the most part of my weekend on a movie marathon- it’s been a while I did that. Some other days I can’t seem to finish a movie in a day. This day was different because I watched five different movies on the spot. Yeah my eyes almost popped out at the end of the day from being exposed to so much light from the TV screen-but I digress.

mad max

I watched Mad Max; fury road again. The first time I saw it, I wasn’t really into in. But this time was different. I noticed all the creativity put in play. I couldn’t even recognise Charlize Theron even if she stared me in the face- I think it was finally at the cast I found out she played the lead female role *face palm*

Anywho, I’m not sure I’ve got a lot of Mad Max fans but you just have to applaud the creativity at work in that movie. Did you see their skin? It must have taken a lot to make them look so spooky and slightly irritating. All it took was for someone to imagine it! I’m pretty sure it did not come out exactly as the creative director had in mind but even so, it’s really creative!

There is no limit to the imagination of man! You do need to exercise this part of your mind from time to time. Don’t get stuck in the real world. So what if it doesn’t exist? Still picture it in your mind. The imagination is like a TV screen where you play all sorts of images. It is very important to filter what we imagine, however. For it is the things that come out from man that defile him, not the things he takes in.

There is nothing that enters a man from outside which can defile him; but the things which come out of him, those are the things that defile a man. – Mark 7:15 (NKJV)

Be mindful of your imaginations! Yes, there are no limits to the imaginations-that’s why you need to put some reins on it lest it runs wild and free. Lucifer must have had a very imaginative mind as well. He could picture himself being God and ruling over the world. This caused him his downfall. The dude didn’t even get to talk about it before God knew it- shows you how much God pays attention to our thoughts and imaginations.

How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, you who weakened the nations! For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation, On the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’ –Isaiah 14:12-14 (NKJV)

God has blessed us with powerful imaginations to create stuffs, to add beauty and value to His creation. In whatever sphere of life you find yourself, you can always create mental pictures and seek ways to bring them to life. If you can see it, you can achieve it.

As I said earlier, be mindful of your imaginations. Lust, covetousness, envy etc. are some of the things that can be expanded by the imaginations- please be careful.

I hope you imagine new things today and the rest of your life as you create new realities for yourself! New realities that would add value and beauty- not destroy and deprive others.

It’s always my desire that you live victorious lives!

It’s the fourth day of the A-Z blogging challenge and the letter is D!

So why dance? (Why not daydream which I do a lot or dogs, which are cute as long as they aren’t barking at me) 😀

Dance is an art. An art so intricately designed. It’s completely mind blowing how the body can move in such rhythmic strokes to music! I absolutely love dance and my favourites are hip-hop and contemporary. The union between songs in these genres and the body movement is simply amazing! Well, if you were wondering, I dance-but I’m still a ‘closet dancer’ 😀

Dance expresses emotions in the rawest forms. If it’s anger, you can see that in dances like krumping. If it’s love, you can see that in contemporary or ballet. I’ve also learnt to channel my emotions to dance. When I’m sad, I dance. When I’m excited. I dance. And no, you won’t catch me dancing just yet 😀 Well, not until I go for proper dance lessons.

My love for dance started from watching a lot of dance movies (the likes of Save the last dance, You got Served, Honey, Stomp the Yard, Step up etc). I still daydream that ‘the one’ may just be my dance instructor or something *lovestruck*Lol.

I’m not always happy when I visit churches and there’s no dance unit. Come on! This may just be the only talent some youths have and I strongly believe it should be harnessed to the glory of God. David in the Bible was equally a crazy dancer. There’s this popular song ‘when the spirit of the Lord is upon me, I will dance like David danced…’ Now that the Spirit is within you, wotchu waiting for? Dance!

Dance is a beautiful art! It’s also a good form of exercise. Try out Zumba dance videos if you’re crazy about keeping fit 😉

I say this again, dance is a channel for the expression of emotions/feelings. Whether it is sadness or gladness, you can always express it in dance!

You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness- Psalm 30:11

The joy of our hearts has ceased; Our dancing has been turned into mourning.– Lam 5:15

Don’t put dance in a box, let dance flow. Be as creative as you can with dance, that’s the beauty of it!

So how about you- do you dance? What’s your favourite type of dance?

4 down, 22 to go!

Lots of love,

Hello there!

Lately I’ve been exploring photography using this awesome camera phone I got. Plus I’ve been busy  with some editing as well. I’ll be sharing some of the pictures and some quotes on creativity you need to reflect on this weekend.

Style 101- How to Style Basic Tops

Hey guys!

So just after writing on Zombieland, the Lord blessed me with two free days! 😀 Now I get to stay indoors and find fun stuffs to do (asides eating and  watching TV in my pj). One of such for me is playing dress up and taking pictures. Silly as it may sound, I actually enjoy every bit of it and it makes me happy. Sorry guys, I know this may  be pretty hard to relate 🙂

Remember how we turned boredom to creativity last time, well this time I decided to style some good ol’ basic tops in my closet. The first picture is how how the top naturally looks-plain as a bagel. The other two are the outcomes of accessorizing. Have fun!

Phew! That’s it for now. The key is to play with accessories in transforming a plain ol’ basic top into some super chic outfit.

Got any basic fashion items you would like us to style? Please drop your suggestions in the comments section. Gracias!

And hey, how are you spending the holidays? Hope you’re doing something you love. Remember an idle mind is the Devil’s playground. Don’t give room for the devil to do cartwheels in your life. Keep busy. Be creative!

    God bless you! ❤

    Happy holidays!
