Hello!
Happy Sunday! Hope you had a good and restful weekend!
Thank you for joining our 30 Days of Gratitude Challenge! It’s been a very refreshing journey of living a grateful life. It certainly takes intentionality and commitment. I believe we will continue until the habit is fully in us.
Day 5: Treat YourSelf
I love today’s prompt! If you’ve noticed, previous days have focused more on other people…appreciating them, calling them etc. Today is about yourself. Do you ever take the time to appreciate yourself for how far you’ve come? Do you pat yourself on the shoulder after a work well done? Or are you quick to be self-critical? Are you the type that would easily deflect a compliment because you don’t feel deserving? Have you become your worst enemy or your greatest cheerleader? These are questions we must each reflect on and provide answers to.
I’ve always been very hard on myself and often self-critical. All in a bid to attain a level of perfection in my performance. But I’m learning how to be kinder, especially with myself. I’m learning to show myself the kind of grace I would show others. We may not always have good days, but we can choose not to make our days worse by being brutal with ourselves and our shortcomings. Just as charity begins at home, gratitude also must begin at home. The home of your body, soul, and spirit. Have you ever thanked your legs for taking you out every day and not collapsing on you? Have you thanked your heart for beating? And your digestive system working overnight whenever you stress eat?
Be grateful for who you are, even as you journey to become the best version of yourself. Take the time to treat yourself to something nice. For me, this usually includes nice scented candles or snacks. It’s a good time to reward yourself for a job well done.
Taking care of yourself doesn’t mean me first; it means me too.

It’s your turn. Go treat yourself!
