Today’s Challenge: Practice Yoga

I’m a big fan of feeding the soul and the spirit. I believe there’s so much that can be achieved through this. But in my soul searching, I’ve somehow overlooked the body, which is the very vehicle that makes living on earth possible.

While we focus on the soul and spirit, we must also pay attention to the body. Listen to the rhythms, feel your breath, know when your ‘check engine light is on and take good care of your body. The body is like a beautiful garden we’ve been given to tend to. If you abandon it, you shouldn’t be surprised if it fails to serve you.

As I try to be more conscious about my body and mind, I’m drawn to the practice of yoga. It creates that wonderful synergy between physical and mental wellness. I’ve had to deal with depression and anxiety in the past (especially when the pandemic kicked in) but I’m learning to be more deliberate in focusing my mind on the positives. I’m becoming more thankful even when things aren’t working the way I would like them to. I’m filling the space that I occupy and I’m leaving my mark in any little way I can.

Long story short, in the journey of physical, mental, and emotional health, the practice of yoga is something you’ve got to try. I had never been more conscious of my breath than I am now. Whenever I focus on my breathing, I’m reminded of how amazing it feels to be alive, and how much I’m connected to God. It’s mind-blowing to know we were made in His image and likeness!

When you look at your body, you’ll see God in every tiny detail. From the air that fills your lungs, to the way your digestive system is regulated and to the microscopic bits that work like clockwork without you being conscious of them. Every fingerprint, every hair on your head, every cell has been designed by God.

Simply put, you are a work of art! Your body is beautiful! It’s magnificent! You are divine. Be proud of your body, this beautiful vehicle you get to do life in. And please try to take care of your body so that it can sustain you on earth as you achieve all your God-sized dreams!

Take care of your body, it’s the only place you have to live.
