I watched the sunrise today.

It was dressed in red.

It rose gently, majestically,

Piercing through greyish-blue skies.

It rose over the waters—

the deep green water with patches of plants and fishermen lazily paddling across.

I watched the sunrise today,

And it reminded me,

That it was okay to be me.

The sun didn’t have to fit in with the sky.

It didn’t have to reflect the waters down below.

It was just the sun—beautiful, bold and bright.

Don’t be afraid to shine today.
