What is it about a new year that presents itself with this whole atmosphere of starting over? Is it really possible to start over? Does one just pretend everything that happened in the year ended, never did?

Lately, I’ve found myself typing on Google/YouTube-‘how to start the New Year right’, ‘how to start over’, ‘how to make goals’, etc. Doubtless, to say, I’m a little anxious. Maybe, I’m just not ready- and the year should hold on a bit. Maybe I still need some time to pray and get my acts together. But let’s face it, time waits for no one.

It’s going to be a new year in a couple of hours. How we take the present and manage it, is up to us. Trust me, it’s scary to think that all the positivism at the start of the year could still wind up to negativism at the end; where people brood over the time wasted and the goals not achieved.

But you know what I’ve found out? God is not confused about what to do with you. He sees you right where you are, he knows you. He sees how messed up your life has been in 2017. No need pretending the new year would change you. It wouldn’t. Behind all the New Year celebrations and shenanigans, would be a you that you’ve always known. The same old you.

If you really want to start the year right, then get back on track with God. Please, don’t just do this because you’re a little scared of crossing over to the next year and you have to tag along with Christian stuff. Nah, you will still cross over,iifHe wants. This is bigger than crossing over dates in the calendar. This is a cross from death to life; from darkness to life; from a life of struggling to do things your own way to a life that lets him lead.

He’s waiting for you. Always has, always will.

As friends! Not as Judge and condemned. But as friends! Don’t you want that? If you do, please say the prayer below with me.

Dear Lord, thank you for loving me; for dying on the cross for me and for calling me yours. I’m sorry for all the wrongs I’ve done. I drop them off at your feet. Please clean me with your blood. I make you Lord of All in my life. From today, I will live for you and you alone. So help me God. IJN, Amen.

That’s a deep commitment right there. And I’m proud of you for making it. Go ahead and step into the new year with the confidence that God is with you. He’s there to help you. For everyone else who just needed a reminder why you need to stop freaking out about the New Year, here’s it!
