If you spend some time looking at what goes on under the sun, your heart will be full of grief. So many things are happening at the same time; new governments have been raised, economic crisis abounds, people losing their jobs, husbands leaving their wives for younger girls, like genders attract and unlike repel, people loving themselves in extremities while hating their neighbor, people denying the existence of God while being so consumed by the world’s goods. Things get worse every day. And it is so easy to lose hope of things ever getting better.

I was reading the book of Judges and I discovered how the world had been stained with sin long before now. There was this story of a guy traveling with his concubine who decided to have a stop at a Benjamite town (Judges 19). That night, some men came around banging the door of the old man who hosted them, asking for the man who visited to come out so they could sleep with him. At the end of the day, they raped the concubine and well she died in the morning. That story broke my heart and I wondered how sad God must have felt. Evil reigned like the sun at noonday because they had no law and order. Everyone did what they wanted to.

Amidst all the chaos, I noticed how some of them tried to get as many statues of gods they could find.  While man may resist the ruler-ship of God, in our hearts we still know there’s something greater and higher than everything. We still want to hold on to something-a god- anything! To keep us through the evil times.

Those who know their God shall be strong and do exploits– Dan 11:32

We have a hope that is an anchor for our soul (Heb 6:19); We know that at the end of the day, His Kingdom will be established forever (Luke 21:31); We also know not to envy the wicked because their end will be that of destruction (Prov 16:4); We know that idols which are made by hand will never protect us. Only the one who made everything and nothing made Him, can truly keep us to the end.

Dear friend, if you’ve spent sometime looking at the boiling pot we live in today, don’t let your heart be troubled for He won’t leave us without help.

But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble. And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him. -Psalms 37:39-40

And if you know you’re not in right standing with God, please say the prayer below:

Dear Lord, I admit that I’m a sinner in need of your saving grace. I believe you died and rose again that I may live. I accept you into my heart as my personal Lord and Saviour. Keep me till the day of your return, in Jesus name. Amen.

The world will keep getting worse till the day of His return and more than anything, we need to hang on to the promises He has made concerning us

Heaven and earth will pass away but my words will never pass away- Luke 21:33

Love,

M.

  1. All we need to do is turn back to Genesis 6:5-6…”5 Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 The LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.…”

The influence of the devil is everywhere and will separate many from the love of God. If only people would listen to and obey the gospel of Christ, they could escape eternal death! Jesus died for all people that all who come to Him in faith and baptism will be saved…

    1. That’s so true Steve. Boy! Man’s wickedness has really been from back in time. I pray that people come to know the truth of the Saviour’s way out. Without that hope of eternal life, living in this world can be really sad.

      1. It certainly seems to be the “devil’s workshop!” There are so many things he has in this world with which to tempt us, and we fall to his tricks and lies. Many people don’t know about Jesus, (which is why we are supposed to be telling them), or they don’t care…Sad is right.

  2. Thank you Jay for the reminder. It’s really needed in times like this. We have to know that things might not get better or even improve and all that we have is our faith in God.

    Thanks again!
