I miss you

I miss us

I miss the oh so sweet communion

We shared

I miss the giggles and tears

The rebuke and correction

You were there all the time

My rock, my defense attorney

My lover, my best friend

You were…

Because now I don’t feel

You are.

I’ve wandered

I’ve gone around in circles

Still nothing.

I tried shoving in some other thing

Into this huge vacuum in my heart

But it hasn’t felt any emptier

Where are you?

I miss you.

I miss us.

I miss the peace of knowing you hear my tiny thoughts

And seeing your mighty miracles

I miss the oh so sweet fellowship

Where did I lose you?

I’ve wandered so long,

I’m lost.

I need you more than I need air

What life do I have to live if I have air and not you?

Lo, you are the air I breathe!

I crave our closeness more than anything

I want you back…

I’m sorry I left you in the first place.

Please Lord…fill me up with your oh so sweet love

I miss you.

I miss us.

As the deer pants for the water brooks,
So pants my soul for You, O God.
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When shall I come and appear before God?
My tears have been my food day and night,
While they continually say to me,
“Where is your God?”

– Psalms 42:1-3

  1. Awwwww. This is beautiful. At first I thought it was written for a person… Then after a stanza, I realised it was for the Lord.
It goes to say… We should not allow any human take God’s place in our hearts.
A truth just hit me… That’s why God allows some breakups… Because we have allowed the person become an idol in a place only meant for Him.
    So help us Lord.
Thank you dear for allowing the Lord use you to write this poem 🙂

    1. Thank you Blessing. You’re right, we should never allow anyone take God’s place. God is our first love and we can never really love other humans without Him. Thanks dear for the reblog. 😊

      1. You are very welcome. I just thought it was important that people know they can feel “distant” from God at times…I know I have.
