Something I have been putting off

I have been stalling on tendering my applications for further studies. Two years ago, fresh outta school, I was like I would serve my country for a year (National Youth Service Corps) then go back to school. But here I am, two years after with work in the mix. I’m like, lemme work for a while and then go back to school. But really, how long is a while?

Plans keep changing and I’m no longer convicted of the course to study or where to study. I’m torn between different choices and I can’t seem to make a firm decision. This is a major reason why I’ve been putting this off. Which reminds me of the double minded man as mentioned in the book of James.  A double minded man is one who is stuck between two opinions and is constantly in conflict with himself. James goes further to say that  such a man shouldn’t expect anything (from God). Now that’s deep!

A lot of us get confused in our thoughts, behaviors and actions. We sway from one opinion to the other without making any decision. Flowing from what James wrote, it would be right to say we shouldn’t expect anything- and that’s the hard truth. This means I shouldn’t expect to go for my further studies this year or the next, if I’m still double minded.

So how do we get outta this?

Check out what James says;

If you don’t know what you’re doing, pray to the Father. He loves to help. You’ll get his help, and won’t be condescended to when you ask for it.

 Ask boldly, believingly, without a second thought. People who “worry their prayers” are like wind-whipped waves.

Don’t think you’re going to get anything from the Master that way; adrift at sea, keeping all your options open.

-James 1:5-8 (MSG)

So whenever you’re stuck in between choices just pause and say a little prayer. Ask God for guidance. Let Him lead you in the path you should follow. As silly as this may sound, believe me, it’s the best choice.

I never really thought of it this way but I thank God for the eye-opening verses. Now I’m gonna pray about this and I’m sure light will shine in the right places and I will be able to apply for my masters in the right school and for the right course. 🙂

Your turn…

What have you been putting off?

Could this be as a result of having a double mind?

Take some time out to say a little prayer, It works!

Day 15 down. 16 more to go!

Have an amazing weekend!

  2. A good association to the book of James. We need to be reminded not to be “double minded” in things. We won’t get anything that way…certainly no help from God! Good reminder, and I hope you figured out something firm for school, M!
